The Mechanical Reliability Engineer will serve as the subject‑matter expert for the reliability of mechanical systems and components on wind turbines. The role drives continuous improvement to minimise downtime, enhance performance and optimise maintenance strategies across the fleet while providing risk‑informed guidance to internal stakeholders. It also leads engineering processes that prevent unscheduled major component failures, implements corrective actions and defines major component overhaul processes.
The position requires deep knowledge of wind turbine subsystems such as drivetrain, yaw/pitch systems, couplings and slip rings, as well as expertise in root‑cause analysis, FMEA/FMECA and reliability risk assessments. Experience with inspections—including borescope reviews and evidence‑based acceptance criteria—and the ability to translate findings into work orders and engineering change requests are essential. Strong project and process skills, data‑driven KPI reporting and the capacity to communicate technical information to both engineering and non‑technical audiences are also required.
Candidates should hold a BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related discipline) and have at least five years of demonstrable experience in the wind energy industry focusing on maintenance and reliability of mechanical systems. Experience with reliability engineering tools (FMEA/FMECA, RCA, FTA), CMMS and SCADA systems, and condition monitoring techniques such as vibration, oil analysis and thermography is desirable. Fluency in English is required; additional languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian) are advantageous. The role is based in Lisbon, full‑time.
