Under the general supervision of the Director of Healthcare Accounting, the Lead is responsible for assessing, monitoring, planning, and managing core Accounts Payable functions in line with National Church Residences’ policies, regulations, and objectives. The role requires strong written and verbal interpersonal communication with business office managers, administrators, and other departments.
The Lead manages, mentors, and develops direct reports, conducting performance evaluations, providing coaching, and supporting professional growth.
Cash management duties include updating daily bank balances on the cash projection sheet to aid accurate cash‑flow forecasting and assisting with incoming mail processing to maintain departmental workflow.
The role collaborates with Procurement (Insurance) to maintain and update Surety Bonds for Resident Trust accounts, ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance, and assists with annual applications, renewals, and filings related to Healthcare accounting.
The position is office‑based with occasional visits to long‑term care facilities, exposing the employee to noise, odors, illness, infection, and disruptive residents. Errors can have substantial monetary consequences, and the employee works under general supervision, operating independently while consulting the supervisor as needed.
Expectations include maintaining a positive professional demeanor, effective time management, and role‑model leadership; adherence to all corporate policies, the Employee Information Guide, Code of Conduct, and applicable laws; reporting resident complaints, abuse allegations, and compliance issues; and completing annual education requirements such as HIPAA training.
Qualifications require at least an associate’s degree in Accounting or related experience, a minimum of three years in accounts payable, and preferred prior management experience. Candidates must be detail‑oriented with strong analytical, organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills, possess basic accounting knowledge, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and new software systems.
The Accounts Payable Lead is a non‑exempt, overtime‑eligible position in the Corporate division, reporting to the Director of Accounting and supervising an AP Coordinator. It is classified under Accounts Payable within the Accounting & Finance job family.
