The Financial Analyst II provides financial planning, budgeting, and analysis support for the Customer Products & Services organization, giving a unique view beyond regulated utility operations. Working in a self‑directed manner with guidance, the analyst partners with business leaders to analyze variances, trends, and plans. Key activities include budget development, month‑end, year‑to‑date, and year‑end financial analysis.
The role contributes to month‑end close by posting journal entries, accruals, and performing account reconciliations. It proactively analyzes financial results, supplies timely variance explanations, and supports ROCR and P&L reporting. The analyst also responds to ad‑hoc, regulatory, audit, and other data requests.
Building relationships with business partners and finance peers, the analyst acts as a liaison to resolve accounting issues and communicate budget guidance, assumptions, and timelines. Project coordination, continuous‑process improvement, and consolidation of results for executive reporting are also expected. The position requires a deep knowledge of the supported business areas to anticipate financial and accounting needs.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, minimum two years of progressively responsible experience, and a solid grasp of accounting and finance concepts. Proficiency with financial applications such as PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, and query tools like WebI, as well as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential.
Preferred qualifications are a CPA or progress toward certification, an advanced degree (MBA or master’s in Accounting), and four or more years of professional experience, particularly supporting FP&A functions. Experience with Duke Energy’s FP&A tools (Power Pivot, Hyperion, SAS, OneStream), and the ability to interface effectively with VP‑level leadership and regulatory programs are valued.
To be considered, applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Thursday, January 29 2026.
