Given the footprint of our operations, this role involves regular domestic travel, often to regional locations, to support leaders and teams on site. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders and HR teams to uplift capability, build trusted relationships and influence positive workplace outcomes.

Reporting to the National Employee Relations and Experience Manager, you will provide expert advice, education and support across multiple BlueScope sites throughout Australia. You will manage complex ER matters, lead investigations, contribute to enterprise agreement planning and implementation, and help shape our evolving ER and Employee Experience practices.

  • contribute to key Employee Relations and Experience projects and initiatives, supporting our evolution toward a Centre of Excellence.
  • provide ER guidance, support and education across multiple sites
  • lead and manage complex employee relations and industrial relations matters, including investigations, grievances and disciplinary processes
  • review and lead the development of policies and practices to ensure they align with contemporary HR and ER standards
  • coach and support leaders and HR generalists to manage ER matters confidently and effectively

  • build and maintain effective relationships with union officials, working collaboratively in heavily unionised environments

Our People team is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist in our National Employee Relations and Experience team. This role can be based anywhere in Australia with easy access to an airport as domestic travel may be required on a semi- frequent basis.

  • exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt under pressure and maintain effectiveness in dynamic and challenging environments
  • flexibility and willingness to travel regularly across Australia, at times with minimal notice.
  • Demonstrate strong influencing skills to support change and foster alignment across the business.
  • proven ability to lead investigations and prepare high-quality reports.
  • demonstrated experience in ER/IR, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
  • a degree (or equivalent experience) in HR, Employee Relations, or a related discipline.
  • Experience connection and care. Experience a positive, inclusive work environment where we look out for each other’s safety and wellbeing.
  • effective influencing, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • sound knowledge of Australian employment law and modern awards, and experience managing enterprise agreements.
