This role sits at the intersection of technology, customers, and business, shaping winning proposals, influencing decisions, and positioning Caterpillar solutions throughout the Asia Pacific region. It provides the technical depth and cross‑functional exposure needed to advance into an Oil & Gas New Equipment Sales Engineer position.
Engineers will apply their turbomachinery, mechanical/electrical, and Oil & Gas process knowledge to design optimized equipment configurations, translate customer specifications into clear technical comments and scopes of supply, and work with engineering, project management, quality, and suppliers to solve complex issues.
The role requires building and maintaining relationships with EPCs, national oil companies, and FPSO contractors across APAC, supporting field sales teams with technical expertise, and participating in negotiations to guide customers toward best‑fit technical solutions.
Engineers will stay informed about competitor capabilities, market trends, and customer buying drivers, learning how commercial risks are managed and pricing strategies are built, while gaining increasing autonomy over Caterpillar’s product line and services.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and at least five years of relevant engineering experience, preferably with turbomachinery exposure. Strong communication, negotiation, cross‑cultural collaboration, high drive, learning agility, and excellent English proficiency are essential.
Experience working with EPCs or major energy customers, the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, and a desire to grow into a customer‑facing commercial role are advantageous. An MBA or business coursework is beneficial but not required.
The position offers exposure to diverse cultures, travel opportunities, face‑to‑face customer interactions, a supportive team culture focused on learning and growth, and strong technical training across a wide range of applications.
