The role involves managing construction phase services, including contract administration and monitoring from pre‑construction through project closeout for municipal and private utility projects. Responsibilities also cover client coordination, responding to RFIs, processing change orders, reviewing shop drawings, maintaining construction schedules, and approving contractor payment applications.
The inspector will monitor single or multiple site activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, prepare field reports and photographic documentation, and troubleshoot construction issues by providing alternative solutions and value‑engineering ideas in collaboration with engineering staff. Additional duties include reviewing bid documents and technical specifications, performing constructability reviews, assisting with engineer estimates, evaluating contractor bids, providing training and mentoring to junior staff, conducting client and contractor meetings, and supporting project permitting processes.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, experience as a construction superintendent, foreman, or inspection professional, and a strong understanding of municipal and FDOT specifications, plan reading, and construction safety practices. Candidates must communicate effectively, be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, and be willing to travel within Arizona.
