CMT Department Manager

Description

• Attend project meetings and troubleshoot problems in the field
• Lead a team of CMT engineers, project managers, and technicians
• Approve weekly timesheets and department expense reports
• Review daily field reports from a technical oversight
• Ensure projects adhere to CMT engineering best practices, safety standards, and quality control procedures
• Manage the full lifecycle of field services engineering projects and laboratory operations
• Set goals for the CMT/Field Services group and develop staff skills through training initiatives
• Assist senior staff with business development efforts through community involvement and client engagement
• Follow all safety procedures, policies and protocols
• Prepare invoices
• Perform technical review of proposals, reports, and calculations

Requirements

• Ability to analyze and correct operational issues
• Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, overnight and travel as needed
• Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.
• Knowledge of construction materials methods, ASTM standards and soil classifications
• Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.
• Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure within 3 months of hire
• Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, construction teams, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.
• This position requires local travel, approximately up to 50% of the time, in support of business
• Strong technical knowledge of testing procedures and specifications
• Ability to evaluate “Request for Proposals,” attend site meetings or converse with potential clients to develop a scope of services and associated cost estimate
• Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
• Vehicle maintenance, inspection, and adherence to safety policies and procedures
• Experience with budgets, forecasts, and financial management
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
• Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites
• Preferred: BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or related degree
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
• Experience of 10+ years in engineering, including conducting laboratory testing, construction observation, field quality assurance testing, site grading, and supervising construction materials testing, project management
• Strong leadership skills; strong and proven work ethic
