The driver is responsible for transporting, removing, delivering, and collecting liquid and solid hazardous waste from customer sites. The role requires loading and unloading trucks and operating a variety of equipment such as vacuum trucks, box trucks, and any other vehicles that match the driver’s license. Safety and compliance with hazardous material regulations are essential.
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, ensuring equipment preparation and compliance with regulations.
- Prepare and manage government documents such as manifests.
- Load and unload trucks safely.
- Conduct trip inspections of equipment and loads for safety and roadworthiness.
- Follow legislation on safe operation, driver hours, hazardous goods, customs, and weight limits.
- Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions following crew signals and position special equipment correctly.
- Inspect vehicles before trips to verify mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of load‑related documentation.
- Maintain logs of work hours and vehicle service status per regulations.
- Record and maintain driver logbooks, bills of lading, manifests, and other required documents.
- Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and coworkers verbally and in writing.
- Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure loads are secured.
- Deliver products and paperwork to customers courteously and promptly.
- Clean up debris resulting from loading or unloading.
- Provide feedback to supervisors on customer, mechanical, or delivery issues.
- Train other personnel as needed.
- Prioritize tasks, multitask, and manage time using timelines.
- Maintain a strong work ethic.

- Hold a valid CDL‑B with a clean driving record.
- Possess a tanker endorsement; hazmat endorsement strongly desired.
- Be able to operate manual transmissions.
- Be available for weekend work and bi‑weekly on‑call schedules.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude for routine vehicle maintenance.
- Exhibit strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Display a professional demeanor under stress.
- Thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Possess manual dexterity and be able to lift 75 lb or more.
