Emergency Response and Crisis Management Lead Associate

Description

The Emergency Response & Crisis Management Lead Associate will strengthen Ocean Winds’ ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from major incidents and emergencies. This role leads the design, implementation, and governance of emergency response (ER) and crisis management (CM) systems, ensuring readiness across global operations and alignment with regulatory, industry and company requirements.

• Support post-incident recovery planning, ensuring continuity of business-critical operations.
• Training & Exercises: Develop and deliver ER/CM training (tabletop and simulation exercises) for leadership and operational teams.
• Emergency Response Planning: Lead the development and implementation of Ocean Winds’ global ER framework, plans, and procedures.
• Support crisis management teams at corporate and regional levels, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and updating plans, procedures, and training accordingly.
• Governance & External Representation: Maintain compliance with statutory ER/CM requirements across jurisdictions.
• Report ER/CM readiness to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Crisis Management Readiness: Establish and maintain a global crisis management framework and escalation protocols.
• Collaboration – Builds cross-functional and cross-border alignment.
• Conduct periodic risk assessments and scenario analyses to test resilience and adapt plans.
• Lead crisis communication protocols in coordination with H&S leadership and Corporate Communications.
• Ensure alignment across sites and regions with relevant regulations, standards, and best industry practices.
• Embed a culture of preparedness by promoting awareness and engagement across the business.
• Incident & Recovery Coordination: Act as key liaison during emergency and crisis events, coordinating activities between site, regional, and corporate levels.
• Represent Ocean Winds in industry forums, regulators’ consultations, and emergency mutual-aid networks.
• Leadership – Inspires trust and provides direction during high-stress events.
• Oversee after-action reviews and ensure corrective actions are implemented globally.

Requirements

Role based in Edinburgh with potential for domestic and international travel. Hybrid work model in place

Fluent English (spoken and written). Other languages highly valued.

• Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and international standards (e.g. ISO 22301 Business Continuity, FEMA/NIMS, UK COMAH, EU Directives).
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple sites/regions simultaneously.
• Preparedness – Anticipates risks and establishes robust readiness systems.
• Track record in planning/exercising ER/CM capabilities at local and enterprise levels.
• Proven experience in emergency response and crisis management within energy, offshore renewables, oil & gas, or other high-risk industries.
• Resilience – Maintains clarity and focus in critical situations.
• Demonstrated leadership in high-pressure situations with rapid decision-making capability.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex requirements clearly to executives, frontline teams, and external stakeholders.
• Decisiveness – Confident decision-making under pressure.
• Degree in Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Security, Risk Management, or related field.
• Proficiency in MS Office, incident management and mass-notification systems.
• Strong facilitator and trainer, able to run exercises and engage all levels of the business.
