In this role, you will utilize Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) workflows for digital layout, laser scanning, laser scan registration, drone operations, and other innovative technical skillsets. This role will be required to travel to jobsites to conduct laser scanning, drone surveying operations, and control setup.
- Drone Operations – Create flight plans, conduct flights, and process drone data
- Support Virtual Construction staff as needed:Coordination – Develop and maintain integrated project coordination models using Navisworks software, and create clash detection reports based on analysis of multiple design disciplines and trade subcontractor 3D modelsCollaboration – Participate in virtual collaboration meetings with project team, while leveraging the coordination model as a decision-making tool to solve complex coordination issuesEstimating – Extract quantity data from Revit building information models (BIM) for estimating teams, while cross-referencing contract drawings and specifications for model accuracyBusiness Development & Scheduling – Create 4D/5D construction sequence animations using Navisworks, Synchro, Lumion software for proposals and construction teams
- Estimating – Extract quantity data from Revit building information models (BIM) for estimating teams, while cross-referencing contract drawings and specifications for model accuracy
- Standards - Work closely with Mgr. of Reality Capture & Digital Layout to develop and maintain standards relating to process and procedures
- Collaboration – Participate in virtual collaboration meetings with project team, while leveraging the coordination model as a decision-making tool to solve complex coordination issues
- Business Development & Scheduling – Create 4D/5D construction sequence animations using Navisworks, Synchro, Lumion software for proposals and construction teams
- Coordination – Develop and maintain integrated project coordination models using Navisworks software, and create clash detection reports based on analysis of multiple design disciplines and trade subcontractor 3D models
- Reality Capture – Scan, Process, register, and publish laser scan point cloud data for coordination
- Innovation – Support innovation through research and testing of new technologies
- Digital Layout – Provide model-based layout coordinates to field surveying teams onsite for layout of self-perform concrete, steel, utilities, and other systems
- 3D Modeling – Convert point cloud information to 3D Revit models for design and construction detailing, including creation of custom parametric Revit families

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
- Understanding of different needs and responsibilities of the delivery team (architects, engineers, estimators, project managers, and field staff)
- Proficiency with Autodesk Point Layout, ReCap, Navisworks Manage, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Trimble Business Center and RealWorks, Leica Cyclone scan registration software is preferred
- Proficiency with Trimble or Leica robotic total stations preferred
- Understanding of laser scanning and surveying fundamentals
- Ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines, establish and meet schedules, and maintain focus in order to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
- Proficiency with Trimble, Faro, or Leica laser scanners preferred
- Understanding of AEC industry and project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases)
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Laser Scanning equipment, and Microsoft Office is required
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation abilities
- Proficiency with drones is preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Technology and 1-3 Years of experience in BIM/VDC Technologies in AEC industry is preferred
