Highway / Civil Section Leader - CT

Description

• Take responsibility for operations of the production section, including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support.
• Participate in marketing planning, proposals and interviews.
• Manage administrative functions for section staff and technical services, coordinating with other sections.
• Engage directly with industrial and public clients on marketing, project production and related issues.
• Ensure work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through a proactive project management system.
• Implement, monitor and support company policies, including Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
• Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel.
• Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with National Directors and marketing staff on local and national marketing and production efforts.
• Work with project teams to develop designs for urban and rural roadway projects.
• Provide management, design and deliverable oversight for roadway and civil projects.
• Manage complex transportation projects and provide technical assistance in Connecticut and possibly throughout New England.
• Supervise staff, deliverables, schedules and project budgets.
• Organize and supervise medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Assist the Transportation Business Group in defining market strategies, identifying project pursuits, preparing and leading design proposals.
• Coordinate with Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.
• Serve as Project Manager, taking responsibility for production on projects in addition to management duties.
• Act as Client Manager for selected key clients.
• Support strategic pursuits through client relationship development and participation in pursuit activities.
• Represent HDR actively in industry organizations such as AASHTO, NASTO, and others.
• Promote the marketing and delivery of HDR services by supporting client managers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations.

Requirements

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, at least ten years of experience, strong communication, leadership, and an active participation in our employee‑owned culture. Professional registration, license or certification may be required depending on the role.

• 10+ years of experience in roadway design and construction inspection.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation and Bentley InRoads.
• Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) or equivalent.
• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads and Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with CTDOT plans and specifications.
• Experience designing urban and rural highway interchanges, intersections, traffic management solutions, complete streets concepts and roadway drainage.
• Experience developing construction plans, roadway alignments, drainage design and site grading.
• Experience performing site inspections, documenting conditions, coordinating with client and contractor staff and responding to RFIs.
• Excellent communication, motivation and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.
