Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of field construction projects, leading and working directly alongside field crews on all tasks while providing insight to efficiently complete work and use safe work practices for small, heavy civil projects.
Nakupuna Companies is seeking a Reclamation Crew Lead to support Nakupuna Companies on executing stream reclamation, land restoration, abandoned mine land (AML) closures, and other small, heavy civil constructions projects. Working experience in operating heavy equipment for earthwork, stream restoration, flood recovery, fire recovery, and AML closure projects. Must have a strong ability to interact professionally with colleagues, subcontractors, clients, and project stakeholders in the ever‑changing environment of a field construction project, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Reclamation Site Foreman will review and execute project drawings and specifications; manage and direct junior field staff; coordinate subcontractors and suppliers; communicate frequently with the Nakupuna Companies Site Superintendent(s) and/or Project Manager(s), clients and stakeholders when on site; and remain flexible and resourceful to resolve field issues that may occur.
Professionally interact with clients in the field, approach others tactfully, react well under pressure, treat others with respect regardless of status, and follow through on commitments. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, seek ways to improve quality, and monitor own work to ensure high standards. Willing to travel and work away from home for a week or more, stand for long periods, lift 50 pounds regularly on varied terrain, and access remote sites on foot. Exhibit strong mechanical skills, maintain a good driving record, pay attention to detail, and organize multiple field tasks to meet contract requirements. Work well in a team, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and take initiative to solve problems.
Candidates should have experience working in the Western U.S. with federal, state, local agencies and non‑governmental groups, and be proficient with Microsoft Excel, electronic timesheets, and expense reporting. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required, and a 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is desired. Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED; trade school certification in construction management or heavy‑equipment operation, or an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.
The ideal candidate has at least two years operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, or bulldozers on earthwork projects including watershed restoration, AML closures, fire mitigation, water storage or conveyance improvements, site revegetation, stream hydraulic and habitat restoration, stormwater infrastructure, remote roadway construction, or similar work. Familiarity with soft and hard surface trail construction and welding experience is a plus.
Work is based on‑site reporting to the Wheat Ridge, Colorado office, with 50‑75 % travel throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Physical requirements include repetitive hand motions, ability to follow audible emergency communications, and ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk. Compensation ranges from $30.37 to $35.00 hourly, reflecting a market‑based strategy that considers education, skills, experience, contract affordability, and location.
