Concrete Foreman

Description

• Manages the accuracy and efficiency of schedule and subcontractors, including trucking.
• Proactive communication with sales, scheduling, management, crews, subcontractors, and clients per company expectations; providing onsite direction as needed. Responding to all inquiries on a timely basis.
• Manage project objectives, timelines, budgets, and financials to ensure quality control plans are in place for all concrete jobs and plan work accordingly.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Liaison with other departments ensures all required deadlines support the project schedule.
• Identify, manage, and control changes on assigned jobs, including developing change orders.
• Constantly operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment
• Ensure subgrade materials and base gravel are laid to contract specifications.
• Help develop, maintain and enforce safe work environment, enforce procedures, standards, rules, and regulations.
• Use survey equipment to ensure proper grading and drainage.
• Analyzes plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to assist in the preparation of time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for all phases of the project.
• Observe concrete and subgrade to determine potential quality control issues and apply necessary corrections. Specifically, identifying mix issues, drainage issues, finish and other quality concerns of the job.
• Coordinates plans and specifications with the sales and scheduling, clarifying discrepancies.
• Ensures T-Sheets are verified, and Pavement Soft dailies are completed with accuracy.
• Assess and control risk of work proposed and to complete.
• Monitors concrete crews for hours worked weekly to ensure we remain on budget and are following hours of service regulations.
• Ensure concrete crews are utilizing proper PPE and help promote a culture of safety first always.
• Optimize operations procedures.
• Occasionally adjusting, moving, and lifting objects in all directions
• Ensures timesheets and all logs are turned in timely and completed accurately.
• Occasionally seeing to perform job duties at a distance, such as operating office equipment
• Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Chooses techniques and defines construction means and methods.
• Responsible for providing instructions to crews by completing the Dispatch sheet daily.
• Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools
• Responsible for hiring, building, developing, and overseeing all concrete foreman and crews.

Requirements

• Constantly talking and hearing to communicate with others
• Preferred 5+ years of experience in concrete management or comparable construction management role.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment.
• Must have a strong work ethic.
• Communication skills, ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and the public in a courteous, professional manner at all times.
• Occasionally the ability to travel regionally or nationally
• Rarely ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like
• Must demonstrate professionalism, have a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, multi-task and set priorities effectively, flexible and adaptive to change, excellent hand, eye, and foot coordination, accomplish goals in a team environment, attention to detail, strive for excellence, possess a positive “can do” attitude, and have excellent sense of balance.
• Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Knowledge of road construction methods, road construction materials, and industry requirements.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Occasionally light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
• Occasionally medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Constantly seeing to perform job duties at close range, such as monitors or screens
• Occasionally move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching
• Rarely heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
• Interpersonal skills, time management, thoroughness, confidence, communication skills, organizational skills, problem solver, and supervisory skills are required.
• Ability to work in a team setting.
• Be able to work overtime when required.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
• Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks at a worksite or moving from one worksite to another
