Client Focus – The role will manage delivery of key assignments, set strategic direction and monitor progress against the overall vision. Responsibilities include preparing contract documents, warranties, bonds and licences, managing costing for design changes, awards and construction activities, providing valuations, controlling costs, evaluating claims and overseeing certification of practical completion.

Integrity – Operations must be fiscally and ethically sound, aligning with business objectives and legislative requirements. The position also supports the net‑zero carbon transition by identifying and managing emissions throughout project delivery, and holds others accountable to Mace’s values.

Create Opportunity – Leadership will drive continuous improvement, coach managers and professionals, and nurture internal and external relationships. The role will leverage Mace’s centres of excellence, knowledge hubs and best‑practice networks to enhance cost‑management procedures and deliver value to stakeholders.

• Deliver end‑to‑end cost management from contract award to project completion across multiple sectors.
• Lead safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance standards on site.
• Apply advanced knowledge of local health and safety regulations.
• Champion a diverse and inclusive workplace that supports team wellbeing.
• Manage delivery of key assignments and provide strategic direction aligned with business objectives.
• Prepare contract documents, warranties, bonds and licences for formal execution.
• Control and report on costs related to design changes, awards, construction activities and client charges.
• Produce monthly post‑contract cost reports and present valuations to clients.
• Evaluate contractor claims for delays and additional costs and advise on certifications of completion.
• Supervise and develop Cost Consultants, providing coaching, performance management and technical guidance.
• Drive transformational change by improving systems, processes and cost‑management templates.
• Lead a team of managers and professionals, ensuring performance management and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external senior stakeholders.
• Identify and implement carbon‑reduction initiatives to support net‑zero transition.
• Utilize BIM techniques and digital tools for cost estimation and reporting.

Requirements

• Demonstrate proven commercial management and service‑excellence delivery to clients.
• Possess strong risk‑management and change‑control experience across contract types.
• Hold a degree in quantity surveying or cost management and professional membership (e.g., MRICS).
• Apply analytical, negotiation and communication skills to influence stakeholders and resolve issues.
• Experience managing people, leading large, diverse project teams and business development activities.
