At nbn you will help build Australia’s future while enjoying equal employment, extensive training and truly flexible working arrangements. This fixed‑term, 12‑month role is an exciting opportunity for a General Manager of Data Science and Delivery, reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer.
In this position you will lead delivery engineering teams across data science, data engineering and software engineering, creating an environment where people thrive and outcomes are delivered with care. You will oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of data and analytics use cases, partnering with the demand management team to meet timelines, budgets and quality standards, and guide the development of innovative data solutions and platforms such as nbn’s data marketplace.
You will champion data‑driven decision‑making and shape a cohesive data science strategy that aligns with the Chief Data Office and nbn’s broader goals. By stewarding projects from concept to adoption, you will apply advanced statistical and machine‑learning techniques, embed predictive modelling into use cases, and deliver improvements to customer experience, operational efficiency and business performance through inclusive collaboration.
The ideal candidate brings significant leadership experience in data science, data engineering or software engineering, with a proven record of delivering complex data initiatives and mentoring high‑performing teams. You are fluent in modern data practices—Python or R, SQL (Spark preferred), Git, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy—and have strong knowledge of AWS, statistical modelling and machine‑learning algorithms. An inclusive, relationship‑centred leader, you communicate clearly, navigate ambiguity calmly and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
If you are interested, apply by submitting your resume—no cover letter or selection criteria required—by midnight on Wednesday 28 January 2026. Applicants must have full working rights in Australia. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term (12‑month) role.
nbn offers a range of employee benefits, including 18 weeks of paid parental leave, a Pride in Diversity Platinum Employer status, a Reconciliation Action Plan, and active employee‑led diversity pillars.
