In this leadership role you will guide the Electrical Reliability Maintenance Team, develop and implement asset reliability plans, execute maintenance activities, and contribute to the design, construction, and commissioning of capital projects. You will also lead the team in health and safety, environmental and climate initiatives, people management, operational excellence, customer service, stakeholder engagement, and community relations.
You will contribute to the WWTP operational plan, anticipate resources and budgeting needs, and ensure alignment with Water Services’ maintenance strategies. Your responsibilities include executing the annual work plan, monitoring performance metrics, fostering a safety‑focused culture, overseeing maintenance of WWTP, lagoons, and biosolids assets, and implementing a Reliability‑Centered Maintenance program. Collaboration with internal teams, coordination of shutdowns, management of spare parts, and sharing best practices are essential, as is ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and ISO standards while maintaining the OHSMS. Additionally, you will provide input on capital planning, support design reviews, construction, commissioning, and asset management strategies.
EPCOR’s Water Services group is hiring a permanent full‑time Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Maintenance Electrical Reliability Manager for the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant in Edmonton, Alberta. Applications are welcome from both current EPCOR employees and external candidates.
Candidates must hold an Engineering degree (or a Technical Diploma/Trade Certification combined with relevant wastewater industry experience), have at least five years of experience managing large unionized staff, and a minimum of three years in asset management, maintenance, or capital construction. Experience with IVARA or other CMMS, familiarity with ISO 55000, and strong business acumen are required. Preferred qualifications include three or more years in a large water utility and direct knowledge of electrical systems at the Gold Bar WWTP.
Core competencies include operational leadership, people leadership, strategic collaboration, risk and compliance management, and reliability‑focused asset management. This professional‑level position works Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week, and requires candidates to be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, legal work status in Canada, and pass background, medical, and drug‑alcohol screenings.
