VAT Specialist

Description

The VAT Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with UAE VAT regulations as issued by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). This role oversees VAT filings, tax reconciliations, documentation accuracy, and supports internal teams on tax-related matters, ensuring the business remains compliant and audit-ready.

• Ensure compliance with VAT laws, reporting standards, and FTA guidelines.
• Liaise with external auditors and FTA on VAT queries, clarifications, and inspections.
• Review supplier/customer invoices to ensure correct VAT treatment.
• Monitor changes to VAT and tax regulations; advise management on impacts.
• Coordinate VAT payments and refunds with Finance.
• Manage and submit VAT returns accurately and on timely basis in accordance with FTA requirements.
• Maintain updated VAT documentation, tax records, and filing evidence for audit readiness.
• Provide internal VAT advisory to cross-functional departments (HR, Procurement, Sales, Operations).
• Conduct VAT reconciliation between GL, revenue systems, and invoices.
• Review VAT transactions including input and output tax calculations.
• Conduct periodic internal VAT compliance checks and risk assessments.
• Support system configuration and improvements related to tax calculations (ERP/Accounting software).
• Train staff on VAT policies and documentation requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Advanced MS Excel and ERP/Accounting software experience (SAP/Oracle/Tally/Zoho etc.).
• Minimum 3–5 years experience in VAT compliance or taxation within UAE.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
• Strong knowledge of UAE VAT legislation and FTA guidelines.
