Develop design drawings and technical specifications for construction and installation services
Support local business development pursuits
Perform field support during installation and construction through monitoring for quality control and consistency with the design specifications
Balance time on projects with pursuit and positioning of new business opportunities
Observe and personify safety and quality culture
With highlevel guidance but responsible for approach and execution, develop solutions to a variety of diverse engineering problems involving hydropower structures or equipment

Contribute to the development and execution of the sector business strategy

Motivate team to work together efficiently and mitigate team conflict
Work collaboratively with Project Engineers and Project Managers to assist in planning, design, and preparation of drawings, technical specifications, and capital cost estimates in connection with a variety of engineering projects

Know and relate with relevant electrical utilities, industry associations, academic institutions and training programs
Know existing clients, the issues they may need help with and their staff
Understand hydro industry, changing needs and players
Communicate at ease and habitually across the corporate hierarchy
Understand skills, capabilities and opportunities for collaboration in Stantec’s business lines across Canada, as well as support international collaboration when required.
Know Stantec’s differentiators and be able to explain benefits to clients
Understand project management principles and apply consistently according to Stantec 10Step process
Project management experience with demonstrated organizational and communication skills on small to medium multidisciplinary projects.
Be able to scale administrative process to size and type of application and identify potential for improvements
Professional designation obtained in at least one Canadian Province (P.Eng.)
Understand the complexity of a given client project and match with appropriate scope of work, level of effort and staffing
Engineer with a degree in structural engineering or mechanical engineering from an accredited university. Post graduate degree in engineering or business application would be an asset.
Knowledge of a variety of software programs used in engineering analysis and design; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Minimum of 10 years’ experience with hydroelectric facilities preferably within a consulting engineering or utility environment
Communicate with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards
Communicate comfortably with clients across their hierarchy from boardroom to shop floor – note that this may require occasional site travel
Recognize where Stantec can be of value to clients
