The Deputy Design Manager role will support the premier infrastructure project in the United States – the Gateway Program – a critical set of rail investments that will improve commuter and intercity service, add resiliency, and eventually create new capacity between Newark, NJ and New York City. The first phase, the Hudson Tunnel Project, includes building a new two‑track tunnel under the Hudson River and rehabilitating the historic North River Tunnel.
The Gateway Development Commission, established by bi‑state legislation, finances and develops the Hudson Tunnel Project. Parsons, together with Arcadis and Mace, serves as a delivery partner, providing strategic advisory, project management, design management, construction management, stakeholder coordination, federal compliance, operations support, and office administration under a 15‑year master service contract.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred), have 15+ years of relevant experience with supervisory responsibilities, and possess a Professional Engineer license. Experience in design management for large tunneling or underground projects, proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bentley software, strong project‑management skills, and excellent communication and leadership abilities are essential. No security clearance is required, and the salary range is $128,700–$231,700.
Parsons invites you to imagine a career where you thrive, work with exceptional people, and be yourself. Guided by a leadership vision that values people, embraces agility, and fosters growth, the company cultivates an innovative culture that empowers employees to achieve their full potential.
Parsons offers best‑in‑class benefits—including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, ESOP, 401(k), life insurance, flexible work schedules, and holidays—and is committed to employee wellbeing, growth, and an inclusive workplace. The company is an equal‑opportunity employer and encourages applicants to join its mission to shape the future of critical infrastructure.
