General Superintendent - Data Center - Traveler

Description

The Superintendent is responsible for all site activities related to construction projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role oversees all trade and field personnel required for successful project execution, with duties varying by client, project size, and level of authority.

Key responsibilities include enforcing safety policies, supervising sub‑contractors and field staff, coordinating construction activities, and mentoring Level I and II Superintendents. The Superintendent negotiates change orders, ensures timely material deliveries and inspections, maintains schedules, organizes site documentation, and drives productivity improvements while communicating effectively with crews, owners, and engineers.

• Promote and enforce company safety policies.
• Supervise sub‑contractors and field staff, directing coordination and performance.
• Oversee construction activities, schedule inspections, and manage material deliveries.
• Mentor and train Level I and II Superintendents.
• Negotiate change orders and maintain project schedules.
• Organize job‑site office, records, and documentation (both hard and electronic).
• Identify and resolve schedule or productivity issues.
• Communicate effectively with crews, owners, and engineers.
• Enforce discipline and uphold professional appearance on site.
• Interview, hire, train, evaluate, and manage direct reports.

Requirements

The position requires extensive travel across the United States, potentially up to 100% of the time, with assignments lasting an average of 6‑8 months per project in states such as NC, VA, GA, TX, FL, IA, and WY. Eligible candidates receive a daily per diem, vehicle allowance, and a home‑away rotation of one weekend per month.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or 15+ years of relevant experience), have at least 10 years as a Construction Superintendent, and possess a minimum of 5 years of Data Center project experience. Required skills include OSHA certification, strong scheduling and document‑control abilities, superior communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.

• Minimum 10 years as a Construction Superintendent.
• At least 5 years experience on Data Center projects.
• OSHA certification with thorough knowledge of safety standards.
• Proficiency in project scheduling, planning, and document control.
• Strong communication and organizational skills for managing subcontractors and inspectors.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, scheduling, and document control software.
