The General Repair Technician II is a mid‑entry level position at BGIS, tasked with assisting senior technicians and performing maintenance and repair on non‑technical facility components such as walls and floors. The role requires adherence to established processes and compliance with environmental, health and safety, and fire‑protection regulations.
Core duties include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, conducting regular inspections, and responding to routine service requests with preventative and corrective maintenance. The technician manages the full work‑order lifecycle in the service maintenance management database, ensures quality and contractual compliance, and supports the implementation of a preventative‑maintenance program.
Additional responsibilities involve maintaining positive client relations through courteous service delivery, recording and tracking maintenance activities, participating in facility projects, and upholding corporate and legislative policies. The role also requires proper maintenance of tools, timely submission of expenditures, and readiness for shift work, on‑call duties, and emergency call‑outs.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, at least three years of facility operations and maintenance experience, and a strong safety‑first mindset. Desired competencies include basic knowledge of Building Automation Systems, ability to read technical drawings, effective communication skills, computer literacy, and a valid driver’s license; security clearance and relevant certifications are considered assets.
This is a full‑time hourly position with pay ranging from $23.20 to $27.30, determined by experience, education, and performance. BGIS is a global leader in integrated facility management, committed to diversity, inclusion, and providing reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process.
