3 years of road and bridge construction inspection and testing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Engineering Interns (EI) may be eligible for this position without experience.
General awareness of construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.
Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline
Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
The ability to attain the following certifications within 90 days +/- or as class scheduling allows: TDOT HMA Certified Roadway Inspector, TDOT Concrete Field Technician, Level II Erosion & Sediment Control/Storm water certification, TDOT Aggregate Certified Technician, TDOT Nuclear Gauge Field Technician Certification, UT TTAP Workzone Traffic Control/Flagging, UT TTAP Guardrail Certification.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
Ability to perform physical activities required of the testing and inspection procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to keep accurate records and compute field data.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
