The Global Commodity Manager (GCM) for the Mechanical category is responsible for financial and operational performance, supplier selection, and managing cost, quality, and delivery. Reporting to the VP of Sourcing and business‑unit leadership, the GCM develops a global commodity strategy aligned with the BU operations plan, mentors buyers, and engages regularly with senior management. This role operates independently while collaborating across functions to ensure strategic alignment and execution.
- Ensure supplier quality programs meet or exceed product standards and address failures promptly.
- Negotiate contracts to secure competitive solutions and achieve annual cost‑reduction targets.
- Develop and execute comprehensive global commodity strategies for the Mechanical category.
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
- Monitor global market trends and assess their strategic impact on mechanical categories.
- Collaborate with Legal to draft and manage domestic and international supplier contracts.
- Lead cross‑functional teams and manage multi‑location/global projects.
- Create value‑stream maps and apply advanced financial analysis such as Should‑Cost and TCO.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and drive cost‑reduction sessions.
- Apply supply‑chain best practices and develop cost models (Should Cost, TCO, indexed pricing).
- Provide purchasing guidance and mentor buyers as needed.

- Detail‑oriented with sound judgment and effective time‑management skills.
- Ability to make routine purchasing decisions and escalate major issues to sourcing leadership.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field; CPM, CPSM, or CPIM certification.
- MBA preferred.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience, including 5+ years in sourcing leadership driving strategy and cost management.
- Experience managing global projects and supplier networks, especially in metal stamping, machining, and fasteners.
- Proven ability to develop local suppliers in Mexico and travel internationally.
- Up to 30% travel, including international trips to supplier sites and Leviton plants.

Compensation is competitive and varies by location, ranging from $90,000‑$120,000 annually in the United States and $105,000‑$115,000 MX monthly in Mexico.
