The role supports the development and execution of the annual strategic plan for Digital Solutions and fiber cable markets, aligning initiatives with business units to launch new products and solutions. It involves monitoring market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for innovation and product enhancements.
Customer engagement is a key focus, requiring participation in client meetings and technical sessions to understand market demands, promote new opportunities, and nurture long‑term relationships that showcase Prysmian’s industry leadership.
Product development responsibilities include solving technical challenges, introducing new materials and technologies, and managing feasibility trials, prototype qualification, pilot production, and industrial scale‑up. The role also oversees design of experiments, patent disclosures, and the creation of customized testing protocols to meet standards and improve product reliability.
Additional duties involve benchmarking competitor products, providing market intelligence, and leading interdepartmental collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Installation teams to translate concepts into viable solutions.
Required qualifications consist of an Engineering Bachelor’s degree (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, or Applied Physics) and at least 10 years of R&D, field service, or innovation experience in optical fiber cables. Candidates must be hands‑on in manufacturing environments, possess deep knowledge of extrusion and cabling processes, and demonstrate strong customer‑facing communication skills.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, expertise in R&D methodologies such as design thinking, agile, and lean, familiarity with UV curable materials, optical fiber ribbon technologies, and strong presentation abilities. Experience in project management, root‑cause analysis, and statistical problem solving is also valued.
The work environment is office‑based with standard equipment, involving periods of sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of moderate weight.
