The Janitor role focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and disinfected workplace. Responsibilities include cleaning interior spaces—floors, carpets, windows, walls, and furnishings—vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and removing stains from upholstery. The employee also empties trash, sanitizes high‑touch surfaces, and ensures restrooms are stocked and spotless.
Additional duties involve washing windows and mirrors, clearing trash and snow from sidewalks when needed, managing cleaning‑supply inventory, and completing a cleaning chart that records inspected areas. The janitor must follow all safety and precaution rules, report unsafe conditions, and be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Clean interior surfaces including floors, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, and furnishings
- Remove stains from chairs and upholstered furniture and keep furniture dust‑free
- Disinfect desks, door handles, office tools, phones, and other high‑touch items
- Clean and restock restrooms, maintaining supplies and hygiene standards
- Wash windows and mirrors throughout the facility
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas
- Remove trash and snow from sidewalks when required
- Maintain cleaning‑supply inventory and request missing materials from supervisors
- Complete and maintain a cleaning chart documenting inspected areas
- Observe and follow all safety and precaution procedures, reporting unsafe conditions
- Follow management directions, meet deadlines, and communicate alternate plans when needed
- Apply proper safety and security protocols, using equipment and materials correctly
