WestLand is adding a Safety Program Lead to our team! The Safety Program Lead oversees the development and implementation of the company’s Health and Safety Program. This role coordinates safety documentation, equipment, compliance, and training, while providing leadership and innovation to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization. This position may be based out of our Phoenix or Tucson locations.

  • Create and maintain safety training documentation including MSHA Competent Person matrix and task-specific plans.
  • Prepare and maintain all OSHA/MSHA documentation, injury reports, work hours, and related compliance records.
  • Lead the continuous evaluation and improvement of the Safety Program, integrating departmental and client-specific needs.
  • Respond to urgent responses and safety incidents. Must be available outside of normal business hours for urgent response.
  • Develop and implement safety audit and near-miss reporting systems.
  • Coordinate with leadership to implement program enhancements and maintain the Safety Program Enhancement Action Plan.
  • Represent WestLand in client conversations regarding safety planning and incident response.
  • Conduct accident investigations, root cause analyses, and communicate improvements internally and externally.

  • Previous experience coordinating safety documentation and training required.
  • Ability to hike and traverse difficult terrain to work alongside field crews.
  • Self-motivated and self-accountable individual who is comfortable working independently without close management supervision.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to build relationships and trust with field staff and promote a culture of honest communication and awareness of ways to help reduce safety incidents
  • Five (5) or more years working as a safety professional.
  • Experience with MSHA regulations and training required.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and offices throughout Western United States regularly. Travel will consist of weekly day trips to projects or offices throughout Arizona and quarterly visits to other out-of-state offices (multiple days trip).
  • Availability to coordinate and communicate during standard and off-hours as needed.
  • Experience leading an organization-wide health and safety program strongly preferred.
  • Fall protection training experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of driving safety training and incident prevention including off-road handling.

The salary range for this position is $79,000 - $105,000 annually.
