Test drive vehicles where permitted and correct driving license is held.
Ensure that NO vehicle is returned to the customer, unless it is safe to be returned for their use.
To attend vehicle breakdowns as and when required, (a workshop vehicle/van will be provided).
Diagnose faults by isolating systems or components that may have caused or potentially cause a problem.
To create and maintain a professional relationship with SFS staff, customers and suppliers.
Carry out vehicle inspection examinations in line with VOSA procedure and Company policy.
To ensure that the workshop and parking area are kept clean and tidy and that all customer/SFS vehicles are parked efficiently and ensure that the walkways are kept clear at all times. All vehicles when parked outside are to be locked and keys kept secure at all times.
A flexible approach must be maintained in all work duties, in order to provide adequate cover to service the workshops and customers’ requirements.
To complete all paperwork required for the task/ job completed and return this documentation to the workshop controller immediately on completion of the inspection/work.
To ensure that all equipment being used by you and other staff is in a safe condition to be used. Ensure that all equipment is only used for the task it was designed for and is returned to the correct place of storage after use. You must report any failures in operation of the equipment to the workshop controller.
Gain authorisation to repair or fit parts as required by Company Procedure.
You will be required to assist other technicians with repairs when required. Along with completing the workshop controller’s duties when required.
Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage.
Maintain efficiency and accuracy while working.
Use Personal Protective Equipment as and when required securing the safety of yourself and all personnel.
Be on standby 24/7 on a weekly basis as and when required.
Test and check that systems and components are safe, secure and working properly.
Maintain a degree of flexibility while working in order to provide adequate cover to serve customers and workshop requirements.
To provide early morning and/or afternoon defect cover on customer sites.
Complete jobs in full before the end of your shift or carry out job handover as required ensuring the vehicle is left in a safe condition with necessary safety signage present.
Demonstrate a duty of care by reporting any health and safety concerns to Workshop Controller immediately upon recognition of potential hazard.
Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures including the SFS Health and Safety policies at all times.

Evidence of qualifications and training in the following areas: - recognised time served on an apprenticeship scheme, VOSA vehicle inspection course, municipal vehicle manufacturing training.
Technical experience on vehicle electrical systems (12+24 volts), hydraulic and pneumatic systems
As a minimum 5 years’ technical experience on municipal vehicles (e.g. refuse, sweepers, etc)
Organisation skills with ability to multitask and priorities deadlines.
An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of Health & Safety rules and regulations.
A full clean HGV driving license category C required as a minimum.
IT skills with knowledge of MS office systems.
