The Project Engineer assists Project Managers to ensure that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements.
Key responsibilities include becoming intimately familiar with project plans and specifications, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, performing value analysis and constructability reviews, and communicating any inconsistencies to the architect. The role also involves recommending labor‑saving and cost‑saving methods, attending and documenting project team meetings, publishing weekly progress reports, updating schedules, assisting in bidding and scope development, and coordinating with the superintendent on milestones and shop‑drawing approvals. Additional duties cover maintaining logs of drawing statuses, advising on concrete pour procedures, inspecting reinforcement, coordinating slump and compaction testing, reviewing field procedures, performing work sampling, and observing methods to improve production efficiency while complying with all safety policies.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience), strong written and oral communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, cooperation, the ability to read and understand blueprints, quick learning ability, knowledge of OSHA and company safety requirements, integrity, and solid problem‑solving capabilities. Preferred qualifications are at least one year of field experience, familiarity with scheduling programs, and basic Spanish language ability for concrete construction tasks.
