Serve as the single accountable owner for all CMDB-related intake, prioritization, and communication
Define and enforce CMDB onboarding standards for new technologies and services
Partner with solution architects to maintain an enterprise CI class model aligned with platform leading practices
Define MVP → iterative delivery cycles for CMDB improvements (normalization, reconciliation, enrichment, integrations, class model changes)
Support audit requests when needed but focus on avoiding unnecessary governance friction — build enablement, not gatekeeping
Partner with Service Owners to ensure business services and technical service CIs have accurate dependency models
Monitor ongoing CMDB operations and bottlenecks tied to incident, change, problem, and asset workflows
Drive reduction of “unmodeled” or “unknown” infrastructure/services
Define strategy for service mapping, dependency models, CI class lifecycle, and CMDB data standards
Partner with ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, APM, and Security to ensure the CMDB enables downstream workflows (change, incident, asset lifecycle, monitoring, discovery, HAMPro, SAMPro, etc.)
Own the end-to-end CMDB product vision, roadmap, and measurable outcomes aligned to Digital Service Management and Service Health initiatives
Host stakeholder reviews, demo sessions, and quarterly roadmaps
Ensure alignment with infrastructure teams (compute, storage, network, cloud) on domain-specific CI models and authoritative sources
Lead release planning, testing coordination, and user validation for CMDB enhancements
Define data quality rules, lifecycle policies, and automated validation
Run and refine the CMDB governance model — roles, responsibilities, RACI, data stewards, CI class owners, authoritative sources, and intake channels
Drive the CMDB toward authoritative data sources, automation, and reduced customization
Evaluate new data sources and implement normalization, reconciliation, and deduplication strategies
Translate outcomes into clear, prioritized backlog items for engineering
Ensure the platform is ready for service health dashboards, AIOps, and predictive insights
Ensure integrations (discovery tools, asset repositories, procurement systems, cloud providers, monitoring tools) follow CMDB standards
Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement
Collaborate with Discovery, ITOM Health, and Event Management teams on service topology and dependency mapping
