The IT Support Specialist installs, modifies, and performs minor repairs on personal computer hardware and software systems while providing technical advice and support to end‑users. This position divides its time between the Brighton and Lansing offices.
Key duties include identifying and procuring necessary hardware and software, installing components such as monitors and printers, loading operating systems and applications, and customizing existing programs to meet user needs. The specialist also delivers telephone, in‑person, and online support, coordinates with network and information systems teams, and manages IT inventory and mobile device support.
- Identify and procure hardware and software to satisfy user requirements.
- Install hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on users’ premises.
- Load appropriate software packages, including operating systems, networking components, and office applications.
- Assist in customizing and adapting existing programs to meet users’ requirements.
- Provide telephone, in‑person, and online support to end‑users.
- Coordinate activities with network services and information systems groups.
- Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager or users via voice mail, e‑mail, or in‑person communication.
- Refer major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
- Connect users to networks and provide initial training in facilities and applications.
- Set up and support mobile devices.
- Assist in research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies.
- Manage IT inventory of supplies in the print room and server room.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma (required) and preferably an associate’s degree in a technical field, with at least two years of relevant experience. Desired attributes include strong organization, multitasking, prioritization, effective verbal and written communication, professional interaction with employees and vendors, technical competence, and time management.
The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, and other physical activities, as well as good vision across various ranges. It is a full‑time position, Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with local travel to all PEA Group offices expected.
