As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within one of the four business units, you will be at the forefront of designing and delivering innovative water solutions. You will lead technical delivery, make sustainable and cost‑effective design decisions, and guide junior engineers to produce safe, future‑proof work.
Your day‑to‑day will involve leading and reviewing mechanical designs to meet compliance, safety and performance standards, while collaborating with stakeholders to keep projects on time, on budget and of high quality. You will promote digital tools and modular construction, embed health‑and‑safety by design, and drive carbon‑reduction and innovation throughout the design lifecycle. Mentoring junior staff and working closely with project and engineering leaders to influence strategic decisions will also be key.
The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree (or related discipline) and is chartered or working towards chartered status. You have proven experience in mechanical design, preferably within the water sector or similarly complex infrastructure, a strong grasp of industry standards, health‑and‑safety legislation and construction principles, and leadership experience with a passion for coaching. Proficiency in CAD and engineering software, confident decision‑making, a collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills are essential.
