The Senior Project Accountant reports to the Project Controller and is responsible for accurate and timely entry and reporting of data across the company's financial systems. Core duties include managing accounts receivable, subcontract management, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, month‑end processes, and key financial reporting and analysis. The role requires strong partnership with management and project teams to ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and completeness, while leveraging that data to improve business performance.
Essential responsibilities encompass cost reporting and strategic analysis, implementation and management of effective project cost controls, and a clear understanding of contractual commercial terms. The accountant communicates financial information to leadership, influences collective agreements, and coordinates documentation required for invoicing, such as statutory declarations and WCB clearance letters. Additional tasks include preparing and submitting LEMs, collecting third‑party invoices, generating equipment rental and progress billings, processing electronic billing submissions, reconciling client billing systems, tracking rental agreements, supporting time entry, identifying change orders, managing subcontractors, and preparing month‑end journal entries.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, holds a post‑secondary business degree, and preferably has experience in commercial construction, telecommunications, or a related industry. Proficiency with JD Edwards or a comparable large ERP system, knowledge of construction methods, and financial acumen regarding equipment utilization, rates, capital decisions, and profitability analysis are essential. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, along with solid Microsoft Office proficiency, are required.
The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing remote work with the expectation of attending the office one to two days per week. Ledcor, a diversified North‑American construction company, prides itself on a recognized culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and provides a competitive total‑rewards package that supports physical, mental, and financial well‑being. Applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of background, and accommodations are available throughout the hiring process.
