Identify risks associated with the subcontract and work to mitigate any risk to the organization
Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained through the process
Work closely with operations and construction staff
Review subcontractor modifications to any standard terms and conditions, and draft responses
Review scopes of work to ensure that the subcontract follows owner/project specifications
Act as an advisor to management and operations in the interpretation of subcontractor requirements and in understanding the subcontractor’s scope of work or obligations under the contract
Maintain well documented files to accurately present a clear trail with regards to subcontract templates, approvals, executed subcontracts, and pending subcontracts
Ensure the subcontractor, contract and services meet the needs of the project and the client
In conjunction with the legal and operations teams, review and analyze contract documents to determine contractual obligations
Resolve complex problems regarding contract interpretation, compliance and reporting in conjunction with project management, the commercial director and legal
Ensure compliance of subcontracts with corporate and project contracting guidelines
Review and understand scopes of work and prepare bid packages
Manage project supplier, and contractor relationships, with assigned key/strategic suppliers to optimize financial and operational performanc
Maintain excellent relationships with the project team, subcontractors and the community

Communicate with bidders, suppliers, and subcontractors, on all procurement-related matters
Lead the subcontractor bid (RFQ) solicitation process; bid analysis; bid review; contract negotiation; contract interpretation through to contract execution
Adopt appropriate subcontract strategies and pricing methodologies such as lump-sum, unit price, target cost and cost reimbursement or hybrids thereof
Ensure timely and accurate contractual correspondence

A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, subcontract management in the construction industry with project scopes that include formwork, utilities, building construction and/or civil
Decision making capabilities
Demonstrated track record of successfully negotiating with various stakeholders.
Strong command of construction and contract principles and law
Preferred experience working on a large scale, joint venture, multi-disciplinary team
Experience in communicating with various stakeholder groups from internal project staff to clients, subcontractors, executive team and joint venture partners
Strong attention to detail
Experience working on a design build project asset
Excellent negotiation skills
