Provides building materials and roofing solutions across the U.S.
The CDL Driver at SRS ensures safe, timely delivery of building materials to job sites, verifies inventory, follows safety protocols, and maintains high service standards. This role supports operational efficiency and fosters strong customer relationships through professionalism, teamwork, and responsiveness.
Drivers safely operate a Class B vehicle within a 200‑mile radius, adhering to DOT regulations without overnight travel. They conduct thorough vehicle inspections, verify inventory accuracy, and ensure secure, damage‑free deliveries. On‑site, they assess job site conditions, collaborate with customers for material placement, and document deliveries with photos per company policy. They also support yard operations and uphold OSHA safety standards to maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
The position typically reports to the Assistant Branch Manager or Operations Manager and may supervise or train junior drivers if required. Travel is limited to local and interstate routes within a 200‑mile radius, with all deliveries beginning and ending at the home branch the same day, eliminating overnight stays.
CDL Drivers must be physically capable of long hours driving and handling materials up to 100 lb, including loading and unloading with forklifts or manually. They work in varied weather and noisy environments and must read job‑related documents in English. SRS provides reasonable accommodations and promotes a diverse, inclusive workplace.
Minimum qualifications include a valid CDL Class B with air‑brake endorsement, a clean driving record, 1–2 years of commercial driving experience, and a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must be 18 or older (21 for interstate or hazmat), pass background checks, drug tests, and E‑Verify, and hold a current DOT medical certificate.
Preferred qualifications feature a Hazmat endorsement, strong vehicle maintenance skills, experience with multi‑drop deliveries, and familiarity with fleet management systems. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and multilingual abilities are considered a plus, while vocational or industry‑specific training in truck driving is advantageous.
Required certifications include a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL B) with air‑brake endorsement, a current DOT medical certificate, and forklift certification (preferred). FMCSA registration is mandatory, and all candidates must complete pre‑employment screenings such as background checks and drug testing.
Core competencies involve strong safety compliance through inspections and adherence to DOT/OSHA regulations, operational efficiency via accurate inventory handling, and excellent customer service with professional on‑site coordination. Drivers must be adaptable, maintain detailed records, communicate effectively in English, and be physically capable of handling heavy materials in demanding environments.
Compensation includes competitive weekly or bi‑weekly pay, discretionary bonuses, a 401(k) plan with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, and a comprehensive benefits package covering medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, company‑paid life and short‑term disability insurance, with optional long‑term disability and additional life insurance. Employees also receive paid vacation, sick time, holidays, birthday, floating holidays, parental leave, and are eligible for safety program bonuses and an employee referral bonus.
