GrizzlyTrek seeks a Mine Planning Engineer to develop and maintain short‑ to mid‑term mine plans, including blast design, production tracking, operational data management, and blending and stockpile management. The role ensures alignment with budgeted ore/waste targets, safe mining practices, and consistent feed to the processing plant, working closely with the pit supervisor, grade control geologist, surveyor, and operations teams at the Lac‑des‑Iles graphite mine.
- Develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly mining plans to support production forecasts.
- Determine and sequence drilling and blasting layouts according to ore body geometry and budget targets.
- Create and update pit designs, pushbacks, and production scenarios using Deswik software.
- Develop and manage blending and stockpile strategies to ensure consistent plant feed and optimize ore quality.
- Coordinate with the mining engineer and pit supervisor to ensure execution of the mine plan.
- Plan and schedule drill/blast activities with subcontractors and site operations.
- Track drilled meters and verify blasting meets production goals and design parameters.
- Monitor stockpile movements and blending to support accurate reconciliation of tonnes and grade.
- Monitor explosive usage and optimize blasting procedures.
- Collaborate with blasters to ensure accurate implementation of drill/blast plans.
- Compile daily production data, including ore and waste tonnes hauled.
- Reconcile planned versus actual production and address variances.
- Prepare monthly reports on production metrics and plant feed alignment.
- Ensure consistency between field activity and material received by the plant.
- Maintain accurate records of mine plans, blast designs, and production data, managing data flow between geology, survey, operations, and plant departments.
- Keep records of stockpile inventories and blending activities to support production tracking and reporting.
- Work with the Technical Services team to align pit activities with geological models.
- Support digitalization initiatives for operational data capture and reporting.
- Assist with database updates and ensure integrity of key inputs used in planning and reporting.
- Collaborate with geology, survey, drilling & blasting, and operations teams to integrate daily pit activities.
- Participate in pre‑blast reviews, daily pit meetings, and site planning sessions.
- Identify and implement improvements to drilling & blasting, planning, and reconciliation workflows.
- Assist in developing and maintaining planning databases and standard operating procedures.
- Train junior staff and technicians as required.

The role is based at the mine site with possible hybrid options once established, involving regular office work, interaction with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and occasional local travel. A valid driver’s licence and ability to work in remote, physically demanding settings are required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional registration as a Qualified Person (QP) with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligibility to obtain it.
- Minimum four years of experience in mine planning, drill and blast coordination, or production data management, preferably in open‑pit operations.
- Ability to prepare, review, and obtain QP sign‑off for drill and blast designs in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Deswik CAD, OPDB, SCHED, GO), mining databases, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with reconciliation workflows and best practices in operational data management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment.
- Valid driver’s licence and capacity to work in remote, physically demanding settings.
