Description

Reporting to the Campus Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the role involves coordinating projects from inception to completion, optimizing operations through new workplace layouts and methods, and applying expertise in statistical analysis, Lean, EHS, and continuous improvement to drive line balancing, business cases, and visual factory initiatives.

• Analyze reports and data to recommend changes in methods, tooling, or equipment to increase productivity and product value.
• Perform detailed statistical analyses and create summaries of plant performance and facility layout.
• Communicate key manufacturing metrics (inventory, productivity, efficiency, on‑time delivery) in clear terms.
• Conduct time studies, develop accurate rates, analyze line balancing, and provide cost estimates.
• Collaborate with plant management to align production goals, offering technical guidance and statistical support for decision‑making.
• Determine machine and workforce requirements and advise on annual business plans and forecasts.
• Prepare capital appropriation requests with EVA calculations.
• Participate in the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems.
• Provide technical expertise on methods, time studies, production standards, and workforce practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs in current processes.
• Assess feasibility of proposed projects and supply information for accurate decision‑making.
• Design and implement machine/assembly cells and factory layouts while ensuring safety compliance.
• Coordinate and manage process‑improvement projects from planning through successful completion.
• Work with cross‑functional teams (production, quality, maintenance) to integrate improvements seamlessly.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of changes, adjusting as needed.
• Lead production teams, providing direction and coaching.
• Stay current on industry trends and manufacturing technologies, recommending relevant upgrades.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience, including designing/implementing cells and layouts.
• Knowledge of inventory control, BOM accuracy, material movement, and engineering change processes.
• Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process‑improvement methodologies.
• Strong mathematical and statistical analysis skills, able to convey findings in business terms.
• Proficiency in time studies, data analysis, cost estimation, and problem‑solving.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across all organizational levels.
• Experience with one‑piece flow, visual factory tools, and project management principles.
• Proficient in CAD, statistical analysis software, and Microsoft Office (graphs, pivot tables, reports).
• Ideal: 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, HVAC equipment knowledge, design for manufacturing, supply‑chain familiarity, MRP planning, and JD Edwards experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred; Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred.
• Travel required to Ingenia headquarters (QC, Canada) or other SPX locations as needed.
