The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial information, reviewing all sub‑elements of the financial statements, and providing operational and programmatic support such as budget and trend management, cost‑benefit analysis, forecasting, and franchisee accounting support.
- Prepare financial statements, analysis, and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist in the monthly close process to ensure timely completion.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations (cash, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts receivable, notes receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities).
- Post and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Prepare financial reports, analyses, and special projects requested by management.
- Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement, and budget variance analyses.
- Assist in designing and preparing budgets.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance, including control testing and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax packages.
- Reconcile sub‑ledger to general ledger balances.
- Send monthly financial package to the parent company.
- Assist with training junior/accounting staff.
- Attend and participate in team, department, and training meetings.
- Participate in Goal Setting & Review meetings.
- Cross‑train and back up other accounting functions.

The position operates in a hybrid work environment with in‑office days to support team engagement and requires a stable internet connection and VPN use when remote. The role involves minimal supervision and occasional travel up to 5%.
The role involves primarily stationary computer work with occasional movement to access office equipment, occasional lifting up to 10 lb, and the ability to operate a passenger vehicle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
- Experience with accounting software (Sage preferred).
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
- Familiarity with finance systems and ERP platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial data accurately.
- Skilled in creating financial reports, reconciliations, and spreadsheets.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Knowledge of financial statements and general ledger accounting.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 3+ years of hands‑on financial accounting experience.
- Broad knowledge of GAAP and SOX.
- Strong general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and banking knowledge.
- Construction industry knowledge is a plus.
- Up to 5% travel for company meetings, events, and training.
