Project Estimators at JDL Corporate Interiors review drawings, generate RFIs, select subcontractors, send bid invitations, answer scope questions, attend client walkthroughs, collaborate with the estimating department, project managers and senior management, maintain open dialogue about changes, promote positive subcontractor relations, develop an understanding of project strategy and financial goals, and review subcontractor proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing.
The role also includes managing client expectations on timing, interpreting limited fit plans, performing quantity takeoffs, assessing site conditions, inputting takeoffs into budgets, and comparing values with historical costs.
- Review blueprints/drawings to understand general project scope
- Identify missing information in drawings and generate RFIs
- Select required subcontractors and identify specialty vendors
- Send bid invitations to appropriate subcontractors
- Answer scope questions from subcontractors and communicate accurately
- Review subcontractor questions and issue additional RFIs as needed
- Attend client walkthroughs as company representative
- Collaborate with Estimating Department, Project Managers, and JDL Management to meet timelines and client satisfaction
- Maintain open dialogue with project team regarding work changes, job conditions, subcontractor relations, and project deviations during bidding
- Promote positive subcontractor and vendor relations professionally and fairly
- Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy, financial goals, schedule, logistics, phases, milestones, and inspections
- Review subcontractor proposals to ensure full scope coverage
- Verify that all addenda/alternatives are properly broken out by trade
- Compile competitive pricing that covers required scope
- Review scope and pricing with clients coherently
- Effectively manage client expectations on timing
- Communicate with clients to align construction expectations
- Perform quantity takeoffs
- Assess existing site conditions and related concerns
- Input takeoffs into budget and compare values with historical cost data

Candidates should have 1‑5 years of estimating or construction experience, be able to contribute immediately with minimal training, and will receive ongoing training and mentorship as their career progresses at JDL.
