At OneH2, the HVAC Engineer will work hands‑on with equipment to design, optimize, test, and support advanced chiller systems for mobile and stationary hydrogen applications. The role blends field and shop‑floor work with engineering analysis, commissioning, troubleshooting, and implementation of practical solutions in real time. The engineer will own the full lifecycle of these systems, ensuring performance, safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the fleet.
The engineer will design and improve chiller plumbing, perform heat‑load calculations, and develop SOPs for safe operation and maintenance. They will create testing protocols, oversee commissioning, and provide technical direction to drafters, model makers, technicians, and programmers. Continuous monitoring of system performance will drive efficiency, durability, and innovation, while collaboration with cross‑functional teams ensures high‑quality standards.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, in‑depth HVAC knowledge, and at least five years of hands‑on plumbing experience. Candidates must be proficient in heat‑load calculations, SOP development, testing protocol creation, and commissioning, and be familiar with relevant regulatory standards. Strong collaboration, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to travel and spend 50 % of time on‑site in Hickory, NC are essential.
