The Leasing Associate is responsible for leasing, marketing, and maintaining positive resident relations. This role handles lease signings, acts as a landlord for property owners, and performs clerical tasks such as processing housing applications, rent collection, occupancy maintenance for public housing, and re‑certification of assisted‑housing tenants.
Key duties include preparing model and target apartments for showing, keeping work, common, and office areas clean, completing lease agreements and collecting deposits, and marketing the property through tours and community‑amenity promotion. The associate must understand lease terms, community policies, and Housing Authority procedures, manage resident move‑outs per policy, stay informed about competitive market conditions, support resident retention programs, maintain resident and property files, and handle resident requests and complaints with professionalism.
Qualified candidates have at least one year of tax‑credit housing experience, leasing or sales and customer service background, and knowledge of HUD regulations and low‑income housing policies. Strong follow‑up skills via email and phone are required; experience with OneSite and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) are considered a plus.
Physical requirements include extended sitting, occasional stair climbing, the ability to read documents and screens, hear verbal communications, and lift items up to 20 lb; use of mobile devices for work tasks is also necessary. The role is primarily office‑based with occasional outdoor exposure, in an open environment with bright lights and constant noise, and is contingent upon a background check and a valid driver’s license.
