The General Lineman assists journeymen and foremen while learning the trade, performing diversified work on construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, and associated equipment. The role supports the line team, follows and teaches safe practices, and helps train apprentices and crew members. Documentation for the Apprentice Program must be submitted timely.
Work is performed in a field environment that routinely requires bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and working in extreme weather conditions. Precise hand‑eye coordination, vision clarity, and the ability to judge distances are essential. The position involves driving a bucket truck and maintaining its stock.
