  • Document influence factors, decision points, and project activity / progress in project tracking tools.
  • Recognize and carry-out appropriate consulting paths based on project and team-specific factors, and shift paths as needed.
  • Contact design professionals to gain information needed to construct energy models.
  • Facilitate meetings solo on most projects.
  • Provide modeling and modeling support on simplified energy analysis projects.
  • Present and discuss project information in a manner consistent with Willdan’s goals and brand.
  • Create NEO models (S-PRM models) based on drawings, planning documents, narratives, team discussion.
  • Listen/watch for new technology opportunities and forward to internal new technologies team for further investigation.
  • Customize reports based on customer interests / needs such as additional charts / tables related to project specific drivers.
  • Facilitate post-meeting debrief and record outcome in project management software.
  • Tie results meeting discussions with insight gathered during Intro Call.
  • Participates in networking and/or seek new project opportunities during consulting meetings.
  • Identify stuck projects and seek help for them through open and honest communication.
  • Explain program info and analysis results to varied audience types (owners, architects, engineers, contractors, utility account managers, etc) adapting to their level of understanding; Avoids use of internal or nonstandard jargon in discussions with external teams.
  • Assess appropriate measures and develop recommendations based on project-specific factors.
  • Plan and prepare in advance for discussions and meetings to achieve the outcomes desired by customers, clients, and Willdan.
  • Attend ASHRAE, AIA, and other technical or professional organization meeting/events.
  • Guide customers, architects, and engineers through a well-defined energy consulting process.

  • 2 to 7 years relevant work experience Knowledge of building design, construction processes, and/or building operation.
  • Demonstrate responsiveness to customers in meetings and in non-meeting communication; Ability to "read the room" during meetings and adapt discussion and talking points to reflect an understanding of customer's needs and focused.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science or closely related field.
  • Proficient understanding of energy modeling tools (NEO, DOE2, Energy Plus, DesignBuilder, eQuest, etc.); ability to apply understanding to handle issues and problems with minimal support.
  • Any of the following industry related certifications:
  • Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, evolving, entrepreneurial work environment.
  • Has a working knowledge of the content, structure, and purpose of building energy codes / market targets and can interpret/apply their content to energy and carbon analyses (including local/state energy codes, Energy Star scores, benchmarks, 179d, etc).; ability to apply understanding to support project questions and challenges.
  • Licensure in related field (Professional Engineer or Registered Architect)

  • Demonstrate ability to recognize connections between drivers and proposed systems / measures / strategies, and discuss them with project teams.
  • Knowledge of building systems and factors affecting building performance.
  • Ability to review models and technical sections of reports, and identify and resolve model errors/ issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret complex information, make strategic recommendations to guide decision-making by identifying anticipated benefits, consequences and impacts of alternative system options.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external team members.
  • Awareness of energy modeling tools and programs such as EnergyPro, DOE2, EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, eQuest, or others.
  • Proficient understanding of simplified modeling (S-PRM) methodology and demonstrated ability to apply to energy and carbon analyses within Utility Energy Efficiency programs; ability to model most projects with minimal support.
