- Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
- Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
- Oversight and development of FPLES accounting processes and internal controls
- Conduct reporting and/or accounting research projects as assigned
- Support commercial and residential business lines by providing accurate and timely accounting conclusions in support of current and new product initiatives
- Responsible for SOX compliance, including design and effectiveness of the assigned SOX processes.
- Act as FPLES liaison for accounting implementations
- Maintains good understanding of, and applies, GAAP, SEC Regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley, and related company policies, practices and procedures.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly and quarterly financial results
- Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
- Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
- Ensure the overall accounting accuracy of FPLES business lines and special projects across multiple reporting entities
- Oversight of FPL Energy Services accounting team
- Identifying and recommending changes to processes to enhance the accuracy of accounting data and/or efficiency of the department.
- Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
