The scientist will lead the technical delivery of ALC surveys and soil resource assessments, develop proposals and bid inputs, and act as the primary liaison with clients, regulators and sub‑contractors. Responsibilities also include ensuring health‑and‑safety compliance on site, preparing safety plans, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff. Collaboration with environmental scientists, engineers and planners is essential to deliver integrated solutions.
Candidates must hold a relevant degree in soil science, geology or environmental science and possess post‑graduate experience in soil surveying and analysis. Full or chartered membership of a professional body such as the British Society of Soil Science is required, with the expectation to achieve chartered status within 6‑12 months if not already chartered. A detailed understanding of ALC legislation, technical guidance and best practice, as well as strong communication and project‑management skills, are essential.
