Monitor job site safety in accordance with OSHA and project-specific safety plans.
Inspect roadway, bridge, utility, and/or infrastructure construction projects to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
Perform field measurements and calculations for pay estimates.
Coordinate with labs and testing personnel; review test results for conformance.
Maintain daily inspection reports, including quantities, weather conditions, contractor activities, labor and equipment usage.
Communicate with contractors, subcontractors, and field personnel regarding plans, deviations, and schedule.
Verify invoices and contractor payment applications based on measured work.
Assist in resolving field issues and construction conflicts.
Attend pre-construction meetings and progress meetings.
Submit clear, organized reports with photos, test results, and findings.
Identify deficiencies or non-conformances and coordinate corrective actions.
Provide updates to project managers and resident engineers.
Ensure safety and environmental compliance on the job site.
Assist in processing change orders, claims, and contractor submittals.
Use NCDOT systems (like HiCAMS or eConstruction) to enter data, document progress, and track materials.
Monitor and test construction materials (concrete, asphalt, soils) following NCDOT or AASHTO/ASTM standards.
Liaise with NCDOT engineers, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
Verify contractor workmanship and material compliance with DOT and project requirements.
Report unsafe conditions or practices promptly.

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a school with ABET accredited program preferred
Relevant NCDOT certifications required
2 or more years of transportation construction project technical/management experience.
