The Operating Engineer role focuses on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all building systems. You will apply specialized knowledge in one craft area—Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations—while maintaining multi‑skilled capabilities to complete daily and weekly assignments. The position supports facility standards and client satisfaction through proactive maintenance, quality control, and safety management.
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
- Oversee preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, and contracted maintenance services.
- Clean, inspect, calibrate, and service HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Record system readings and adjust equipment to maintain efficiency.
- Review client service request summaries to identify and resolve recurring operational issues.
- Evaluate vendors and suppliers for quality standards and competitive pricing.
- Verify delivery accuracy and maintain inventory control.
- Monitor quality and pricing of work performed by outside contractors.
- Analyze system operations, diagnose problems, and implement corrective actions.
- Commit to safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

- Hold a high school diploma/GED plus two years of trades schooling in electrical, refrigeration, or HVAC, or at least three years related experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Physically able to lift 35 lb and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Capable of working in diverse environmental conditions, including heat, rain, cold, and night hours.
- Possess Universal Technician CFC certification and/or state specialty license (electrician, stationary engineer, plumbing).
- Demonstrate advanced expertise in multiple craft areas beyond primary specialization.
- Experience managing facility services and supervising contractors.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and vendor evaluation procedures.
- Experience developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
