The Commercial Manager (Projects) will manage numerous stakeholder relationships, including external relationships with clients, quantity surveyors, operational colleagues and colleagues who provide functional support to the HMCTS contract (e.g. finance, HR, and legal) and directly engage with sector/ business leadership. This role interacts with managers of all levels both internally and within our client organisations - good communication skills are essential.
The Commercial Manager (Projects) will lead commercial delivery of project works across the HMCTS estate. They will provide contract commercial management and profit improvement, along with focus on compliance. In addition, they may be required to support growth within the existing contract as well as new business development initiatives to extend the suite of contracts in the region.
This individual will work within the Commercial function to lead a team of quantity surveyors in delivering projects across the HMCTS estate, ensuring that income is maximised, risk is minimised and costs are managed in accordance with each project's governed position.
- Ensuring governance and diligence requirements are followed with subcontractors
- Leading commercial management of project lifecycle from tender through delivery to final account
- Supporting quality service delivery by raising awareness of contractual responsibilities among colleagues (including contract deliverables, scope of services etc.)
- Supporting the management of cash and meeting key financial metrics
- Managing commercial and contractual elements of variation/change control
- Identify, plan and resolve potential disputes arising under client/subcontractor engagements
- Leading governance to ensure compliance with the requirements of the contract and Equans' processes
- Supporting the identification and management of risks at all levels (operational, financial, commercial, technical)
- Providing day-to-day commercial support to the project management team
- Interpreting and analysing subcontracts in response to identified issues and/or as part of departmental risk review
- Building strong relationships with senior client representatives; preparing and presenting reports as required to assure stakeholders

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
- Skilled negotiator with proven experience in a commercial environment
- IT literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Understanding and practical application of base English law applicable to contracts generally and the projects within the FM industry in particular
- Educated to degree/ diploma level in Quantity Surveying or a related subject
- Correctly processing confidential/commercially sensitive information
- Sound understanding of risk analysis and management
- Demonstrating compliance of governed positions (by audit against Equans' commercial standards)
- Suitable commercial experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously within a facilities management environment
- Excellent financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy
- Thorough knowledge and experience of business assurance systems
- Excellent communicator
