The CDL Driver & Crane Operator at SRS Building Products is responsible for safely transporting and delivering building materials to job sites within a 200‑mile radius. The role emphasizes adherence to DOT regulations, thorough equipment inspections, and high standards of customer service while supporting warehouse and yard operations.
Key duties include operating trucks, crane‑equipped trucks, and forklifts; performing pre‑ and post‑trip DOT inspections; coordinating with rooftop loaders; verifying inventory; documenting deliveries with photos; and assessing job sites for safety risks. The operator also provides on‑site customer interaction and assists with maintenance of the warehouse and yard.
Travel is frequent but all trips start and end at the home branch, ensuring drivers return home each night with no overnight stays. The position is physically demanding, requiring regular lifting of up to 100 lb, work in various weather conditions, climbing ladders, and tolerance of high noise levels, with reasonable accommodations available per ADA.
Applicants must hold a valid Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement, a current DOT medical certificate, and be registered in the FMCSA Clearinghouse. Required certifications include crane operator certification and forklift certification (preferred). A clean driving record, 1‑2 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in English (bilingual English/Spanish preferred) are also required.
Preferred qualifications include 3‑5 years of truck driving experience, professional crane operation experience, strong time‑and‑route management skills, and proficiency with digital inventory systems. Competencies emphasize leadership, teamwork, safety compliance, problem‑solving, and effective communication with customers and team members.
The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $28.65 to $37.21, with eligibility for overtime, performance bonuses, car allowances, and travel reimbursements. Additional benefits include 401(k) matching, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off, medical/dental/vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, and safety incentive programs.
