Mechanical Engineer

Description

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to mechanical and piping teams.
• Respond to various mechanical engineering inquiries from plant site personnel.
• Assist with inter-discipline coordination of mechanical equipment review.
• Review selectionof type, model,and manufacturer of mechanical equipment to minimize project cost and schedulewhile maximizing facility reliability and maintainability.
• The candidate will be expected to propose and implement standard and non-standard solutions to uniquely meet our client’s needs.
• Prepare and modify mechanical design basis and provide guidelines for outages.
• Determine and recommend quality assurance inspection requirements for mechanical equipment.
• CAPEX and maintenance of recovery and power boilers
• Act as project lead and primary point of contact for clients

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in boiler maintenance to join our team! This position will entail scope and development of our clients’ power boilers planned outages, and a couple CAPEX projects.

This is a temporary secondment role that is expected to last from January to August 2026. The successful candidate must be willing to work in both Edmonton (in office design work) and Hinton (onsite to direct work during execution).

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation by APEGA (required)
• 10+ years’ experience in design for brownfield, sustaining capital process plant projects
• Experience in boiler maintenance is an asset
• All candidates must be fluentin both writtenand spoken English.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
• A self-starter with strong technical, interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in utilities facilities projects.
• Registered with APEGA
• Wide knowledge in various fields of mechanical engineering, including boiler maintenance
• Experience in ASME B31.1 Piping.
• Must be capable of conducting field visits at client’s facilities as required.
