What you would be doing

  • Ensuring the workshop and offices are all maintained and operate to a high standard (organised, clean & tidy), including your own work areas.
  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance tasks to maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime.
  • Supporting the creation of written procedures and associated documents (SOPs, reports etc.) and report errors or where documents have become obsolete and need to be updated.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting of maintenance, equipment status, parts/consumables used and fault reports.
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis to identify problems with plant as they arise and action the solution.
  • Use skills and experience to monitor plant performance and condition in order to identify potential breakdowns before they occur, ensuring that any required actions are correctly reported
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with site policies and procedures.
  • Supporting and contributing to a continuous improvement quality culture.
  • Using expertise and training to support the resolution of process issues as they arise.
  • Following the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all maintenance jobs are carried out safely, observing site rules and required risk assessments.
  • Ensuring systems are kept up to date and faults are entered into the maintenance management system.

  • Knowledge of glass processing equipment including, conveyors, screens, bearings, optical sorters or similar industrial equipment would be a significant advantage
  • Proficient computer skills (experience of Microsoft applications minimum)
  • Driving licence
  • ONC/HNC Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering
  • Proven (evidence of qualifications) training for hands on, mechanical/electrical servicing/diagnosis
  • Good communicator, both written and spoken
  • Basic electrical understanding and a willingness to further develop in electrical competence would also be preferential
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques including SMED, RCPS, 5’s, etc
  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental protocols and experience undertaking risk assessments and exercising risk reduction measures
  • A flexible and responsive approach to work, with the ability to take responsibility and justify actions
  • Experience in production, manufacturing, welding, maintenance or servicing environments
  • Enjoy working in a team whilst being comfortable working autonomously
  • Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level desirable
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work alone and/or as part of a team
  • Experience working with asset/maintenance management software, controlled work permit systems and following procedure
  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent
